Luxury in sustainability
Our Studio, Studio Shunya, provides design and build services for architecture and interior design projects. Just like ‘Zero’ exhibits a dual nature - integral to mathematical computations yet also representing nothingness; Shunya Designs strives to give you everything without affecting anything. Our Earthly Architectural practices not only offer rooted buildings but a way to bring clients closer to their real roots - Nature. Instead of Shock-and-Awe, the dominant design themes are Balance, Harmony and most importantly, Self-Discovery.
At Shunya Designs, we go sustainable not just in the built- form but also in the functions, in the materials and textures that define the building. Aim is to provide ecological and socially sustainable designs by using “local” resources like natural materials such as mud, stone, wood, lime, straw, cow dung, labor and techniques specific to the site and the region depending on the location and their surroundings. The idea is to always give back to the earth, whatever we borrow while constructing and to create a self sustaining aesthetically attractive experiential spaces. Our earnest and dedicated attention to individual project translates into an intimate relationship between that space and the user who experiences it.

About the founder
Studio Shunya was founded in 2020 by the firm’s Principal Architect, Shreya Srivastava. Having worked at prominent conventional practices such as CP Kukreja Architects, SEEDS, ISA Projects Pvt Ltd and Greater Noida Development Authority, it was at Geeli Mitti, where she was exposed to the construction of Natural Buildings. All her professional endeavors since then tell a story of her love and command over natural building materials.
A decorated alumnus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University’s Architecture program (New Delhi), her diversified experience with impactful organizations helped her realize her dream of finding Studio Shunya. Today, a building that is not sustainable is a dereliction of true Architecture. Additionally, this practice pledges to deliver ‘Luxury in Sustainability’.
Studio Shunya aims to boldly reform the preconceptions of ‘mud architecture’, as is clearly evident from published works in Architectural Digest and The Better India. With built and on-going projects spread across India, Studio Shunya envisions a unified global view of the profession of Architecture where design is ecologically rooted and pleasant to the users.
